April 27, 2023

Caregivers of Students with IEPs and 504 Plans,

As a part of our ongoing effort to improve our programming for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans, Weld County School District RE-1 will be engaging in a systems review. This systems review will take place during the month of May. The systems review will help our district to identify areas of strength in our programming as well as determine priorities for improvement efforts. As a valued partner in this work, we would like to invite you to participate in a focus group from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5 at the Educational Service Center in Gilcrest. The focus group will be held in the Board Room. During the focus group, you will be asked to answer questions and share your thoughts about the services your student is receiving. Donuts and coffee will be provided. Should you wish to speak individually with our partner in this work rather than participate in a focus group, please call Laura Lofton at 970-350-4201 to set up a phone call.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Kim and her husband live in Timnath, CO.

We are also pleased to announce that we have filled our two opening Assistant Principal positions.

Please welcome Diane Freehling as the VHS Assistant Principal. Mrs. Freehling has been a long-time science teacher, summer school principal and is the current instructional coach for VHS. We are thrilled to have her expertise, historical knowledge, and passion for students.

Also, please welcome Ashley van Slyke at the new Assistant Principal for PMES. Ms. van Slyke was a former teacher of 1st, 2nd and 5th grade at PMES and has recently been the AP in Strasburg. We are excited to have her return to the district as a member of the community to share what she's learned.

22-23 Protocolo COVID 19

12th Aug 2022

COVID Update

11th Aug 2022

22-23 COVID-19 Protocol

If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home and take a test. The district currently has tests available if you need one.

CDPHE Guidelines: If You Test Positive

You can stop isolating after five full full days if:

  • You tested positive, but don’t have any symptoms.
  • You had mild symptoms, you are starting to feel better, and you don’t have a fever.

Your first day of isolation is the first full day after you started feeling symptoms or tested positive.

Testing is not required to stop isolation. If you have access to a test and want to test, the best approach is to use an antigen test (such as a rapid at-home test) toward the end of the five-day isolation period if you do not have symptoms or are fever-free and your symptoms are improving.  If your result is positive, you should continue to isolate until after day 10. If the result is negative, you can stop isolating after 5 days.

If you stop isolating after five days, you should continue taking precautions for five more days.

  • Wear a well fitted mask around other people, both in your home and in public. Do not go to places where you are unable to wear a mask.
  • Avoid eating and drinking around other people.
  • Avoid contact with people who are at high risk for getting very sick from COVID-19.
  • Avoid travel.

If You Are In A Household with Someone Who Has Tested Positive

If you can isolate yourself from the household member (no contact), you can return to work/school. Monitor symptoms. If you become symptomatic, stay home and test.

**If you can't isolate yourself,**you will need to stay home through the isolation period as required by the household member that has tested positive.

Attached are some flowcharts to help you navigate through illness or exposure. Please click here to see Flow charts. Please see section "COVID-19 Resources".

Best wishes for a healthy and safe year!
