RETURNING PK Students, Siblings in Elementary, Middle, High School, or a Parent who is Employed in the Preschool/Elementary School

Colorado families can start applying for the state’s free preschool program for the 2026-27 school year on Dec. 9th for children currently enrolled in a Weld RE-1 preschool, wanting to attend where a PK-5 sibling attends, or the parent is employed in the preschool/elementary school.

Step 1: Visit upk.colorado.gov

• Make sure the school program of your choice Weld Re-1 is selected as your top choice for provider preference.
• When asked about continuity of care questions, make sure to list your current program in the responses.

You can find our school profile at  upk.colorado.gov and submit your registration starting at noon on December 9th through February 2nd.

Step 2:

• Please complete this form until Weld RE-1 Infinite Campus registration portal opens up.

NEW Families to a Weld RE-1 Preschool

Step 1:

• Visit upk.colorado.gov to apply for free preschool.
• Weld RE-1 accepts all 4-year-olds and provides free preschool.

• Weld RE-1 only has 11 free preschool general education enrollment slots for 3-year-olds. In District Only* Note: all 3 and 4-year-olds for a qualifying Individualized Education Plan are provided free preschool. In District Only
• The Early Childhood Department at the State of Colorado will not announce matches until February 2026.
• Weld Re-1 offers tuition-based preschool if you do not qualify for a free preschool enrollment slot. The fee is $20 per day, per session. Families must register for the 4-days a week year-long program. Preschool Tuition Agreement
